SVS Day 6

Woohoo!!!

I just completed JP's How to Draw Everything course.

And it seriously covers everything from the three main things to learn:
Shape, Line, Tone.

It's kinda cool that he has body anatomy figured out, so that when it comes to putting his imagination on paper. It comes really easily. So you learn the basic shapes, and from there, you progress to the 3D shapes, and when you're able to twist, turn, rotate, squish, pull, cut, add on and play with all these pliable shapes... Then you get into human anatomy and figure drawing, you understand which muscles are attached to which and get where the bones go when your body parts move at different angles... The brain eye coordination to see these muscles and bones as those shapes will allow you to be able to picture a character doing any pose viewed from any single angle.

It's that simple.
Just put in the time and effort.

I can do this!!!

Just yesterday I was looking at my foot and spotting where my cones, pyramids, cylinders and spheres were... but I was also starting to notice the simpler shapes first, the triangle and sharp angles I think it did become an interesting style of drawing.

Stuff to work on:
- Observing the world enough to break down all the complex shapes into the simple shapes that I will be able to draw with enough practise.
- I find it difficult to come up with a character to draw, I think it would work if i dont think that hard. I do have a considerable number of notes somewhere with random potentials scribbles and stories. (and all those puppet pictures too... nope they too tiny. :( )
-Building up a visual library, pause to really look at things, as per first point. And if there's need be for reference, search up ten photos of real boats (as in JP's example) look at them closely so we get them right. You dont have to draw them as they are, you just need to know what shapes go where.

Feeling pretty hyped up, I foresee next week would be rather packed and busy with work. But I must find a way to fit some time in the cracks and crevices for some practise. Hell Yeah I can do this!

I'm so glad I got this monthly subscription. I love the freedom to be able to jump all over the site and across the different courses to see different videos. And somehow I mentally restricted myself to the more fundamental parts, but I'm seeing myself really enjoy taking it further.

And a little note to self regarding digital and traditional grasping, it is waaaay easier to draw on paper... I'm not sure if it's cos of the hand eye coordination when using a tablet, maybe it'll be better if I'm on a draw on the screen kinda device, but working on my note didn't work cos the screen was way too small.
Solutions: Use the tablet more please.
